Pike Rig of Lubec, Maine, from which some of the best Wilson's were found.
Jacob Clark Pike (1854 – 1928), Lubec, Maine, was a highly industrious man who went to sea at age 14 and later rose to captain. After 17 years he retired from seafaring to become a pioneer in the sardine canning industry, beginning his first business venture as Parker & Pike Co. He played a major role in Lubec, Maine and served in the Maine Legislature. During this time, he was also a serious waterfowl hunter, and numerous decoys have turned up with the Pike brand, including some by Gus Wilson. The Wilson decoys are well-regarded by collectors for their classic form and exceptional condition.
